9:00pm [9:00pm-11:00pm] Chicago Gumbo
Description:
The Chicago Gumbo Show is the only show of its kind on the air that celebrates and promotes the deep history of music made in Chicago and the surrounding Midwest. You’ll hear blues, jazz, soul, and many more genres that range from the Great Chicago Jazz age of the 20’s to present times. The host, Trombone Dave Ramey, has been a musician and educator in the Chicago area for the past 30 years playing and teaching courses on American Roots music for institutions such as Northwestern University and the University of Chicago’s Graham School. In his research he’s found himself lost in many a cotton field in Mississippi looking for unmarked graves of blues musicians, as well as exploring juke joints, and music festivals of the south. His unique twist on things brings you not only a show that entertains, but is also an education.
